RavesOh there is a whole quagmire of bile to vent my spleen over at the moment, number one being that my local council (Rochdale) has in it's infinite wisdom, allowed ALL the major roads out of town to be dug up at the same time (instead of just working on one bit then moving onto the next). Result, nobody is going anywhere fast (busses included). Upto two hours a day I spend travelling to and from work now, which used to be 30 minutes away, or 15 minutes away out of peak times.
I think I'll do a top ten list of pet rants when I have time (when I'm not stuck in traffic).
Ubuntu has released version 7.10, which on first impressions looks very nice! I'm currently running Ubuntu 7.04 on two of my machines and I've had no major problems really, just the odd minor glitch. The great thing about Ubuntu, I find, is it works nicely on older, lower spec PCs (I'm running an old Athlon Thunderbird and a Via C3). This has to be thanks to Ubuntu's desktop GUI, Gnome, which isn't as bloated as Windoze look-a-like, KDE, although out of the two, I reckon KDE is the better looker.
Also I've recently discovered a free WYSIWYG type web page creator called KompoZer. Years ago, I orginally designed my site using Netscape Composer, which then become Mozilla Composer, which then got incorporated into Mozilla's SeaMonkey, and now it looks like someone has run off with the source code, expanded on it and called it KompoZer. Its just as easy to use and they've added cascading style sheets too. I'm still playing with it, but again, first impressions...
Download Firefox & Thunderbird now!
I'll run this picture for a bit longer. It's one of my winning entries for Micro Mart magaine's caption competition. I've won it a few times now, but this is my favourite effort...
